A Heartwarming Story: Christina’s Journey
One of the most touching stories that illustrate the impact of our support is that of Christina, a young stray dog who spent 540 days at the SPCA Windhoek before finding her forever home. Christina’s journey is a beautiful reminder of the power of patience, compassion, and second chances.
Christina first arrived at the shelter as an unclaimed stray. She quickly became a favorite among staff and volunteers, known for her calm and steady presence. Throughout her long stay, she helped energetic male dogs learn manners and social cues, always ready for a walk, a game in the big garden, or an outing beyond the shelter gates.
Despite her many kennel mates and the love she received at the shelter, what Christina truly needed was a home of her own. One of the dedicated volunteers couldn’t stop thinking about her and began talking to their family about adopting Christina. They took the time to introduce her slowly to their two resident dogs, going on walks together and letting the dogs get to know each other.
After 540 days of waiting, Christina finally went home. She settled in as if she’d always belonged there, testing out every bed, couch, and chair to find the best napping spots. She gets along beautifully with her new canine siblings, loves playing with toys indoors and out, and has even taken on an important new role: official homework supervisor, keeping close watch as school projects are completed.
Christina’s story is just one example of the many happy endings made possible by your support. Every contribution brings us closer to giving each animal a second chance at a happy life.
