ASSITANT FLEET CONTROLLER LONG HAUL X 1 – WALVIS BAY DEPOT

The position’s main responsibilities are:

• Checking vehicles/equipment & reporting all defects on non-conformance report.
• Reporting incidents / accidents to supervisor immediately.
• Adherence to all Statutory, Company and Customer, Health & Safety & Environmental policies and performing duties in this regard effectively and efficiently.
• Assist with Diesel / Weighbridge duties as & when required.
• Equipment control – maintain register of equipment issued/returned
• Supervise & assist loading by general workers to ensure that cargo is at all times properly secured and that the nets/tarpaulins are properly secured as well as supervising the cleaning, washing of trucks/vehicles & repairing of tarpaulins.
• Supervision of Housekeeping in terms of ISO standards- organize the Cleaning of yard, ablutions and keeping storage areas (including equipment store) in a neat and clean condition – reporting any defects to Management.
• Assist with pre-loading of trucks as and when required as well as loading & offloading of Manganese load with a forklift.
• Supervise the watering of the garden.
• Any other duties as specified by the yard supervisor/Management.
• Perform any other duties as may be requested from time as might be reasonably expected from an Assistant Fleet Controller.

The suitable candidate will meet the following minimum requirements:

• Namibian Citizen with a valid forklift license and operator’s card.
• Grade 12 with a minimum of 3 years freight handling experience, including the loading/off-loading of manganese
• Must have excellent analysing, problem solving and interpersonal skills
• Possess excellent communications skills (English and Afrikaans)- read and write
• Must have high attention to detail together with the ability supervise others and work under pressure.
• Must be hard working with have sober habits.
• Must have a valid code of conduct (Police Clearance) not older than 3 months.
• Being in possession of a valid Code C drivers license will be an added advantage.
• Must be flexible to work overtime.
