NATIONAL SCHEDULER / FLEET CONTROLLER

The position’s key performance areas are:

Responsible for various operational and administrative duties in the National Department. The duties include, but is not limited to:

• Prioritize and co-ordinate daily schedule according to urgency and work closely with depots and drivers to ensure execution of plans are cost effective, well organised, measured and meeting customer expectations.
• Responsible for ensuring that the loading of all loads is in line with prescribed standards. Implement procedures pertaining to loading, signing of loads, packing requirements and ensure that these are adhered to at all times.
• Escorting Cyanide loads and ensuring that these are delivered in line with all the prescribed contract and safety requirements.
• Managing 24-hour projects.
• Monitor tracking system throughout the day and follow-up with drivers on a regular basis to ensure trips are completed within the allocated time frame.
• Provide regular written feedback to customer with regards to completion of job as well as any difficulties that may result in order not being carried out within time frame.
• Ensure pre and post trip briefings are performed diligently.
• Supervision of National drivers and other National staff members.
• Perform daily checks together with drivers, record all faults and ensure that the completed forms are forwarded to the Workshop on a daily basis.
• Managing /controlling loading equipment inventory & ensure vehicles are properly maintained and clean at all times.
• Perform general office duties and any other duties as may be requested from time to time as might be reasonably expected from a National Scheduler / Fleet Controller and in line with ISO 9001:2015 requirements for this position.

The suitable candidate will meet the following requirements:
• Namibian Citizen with a valid driver’s license (Code B).
• Grade 12 with a minimum of 3 – 5 year’s relevant experience in Transport / supply-chain / logistics industry & experience in container scheduling will be an added advantage.
• Practical experience in escorting and transport of chemicals and handling 24-hour projects.
• Possess excellent interpersonal & communication skills (English & Afrikaans) with the ability to supervise and guide others.
• Have excellent adaptation skills and high attention to detail & must work accurately, must be detail orientated.
• Be computer literate (MS Office & SAP).
• Be open minded, willing to learn & take initiative and make informed decisions.
• Be able to work according to strict deadlines, excellent time management skills are mandatory, track the progress of all vehicles and equipment.
• Be flexible to work independently as well as in a team and able to cope with a demanding work life and to work under pressure.
• Must follow instructions and procedures and support and co-operate with the Short Haul Department.
• Be able to deliver on results and meet customer expectations.
• Have sober habits with high integrity and adherence to principles and values.
• Work overtime if required.
• Have a valid Code of Conduct – not older than 3 months (Police Clearance).
