CRANE OPERATOR X 2 – MATERIAL HANDLING WALVIS BAY DEPOT
Please note that this advert will run concurrently with an external one.

The position’s main responsibilities are:

• Operating the crane is the main responsibility.
• Daily pre-trip inspections of crane.
• Daily cleaning of the crane and crane structure, sheaves & boom head.
• Ensuring crane is always level when operating the booms.
• Pre-inspecting the job and terrain together with the Rigger to ensure the crane operated is the correct size in terms of the job requirements.
• Performing job safely and effectively in line with work instructions.
• Reporting all accidents / incidents to the supervisor immediately.
• Stopping the job in unsafe working conditions and immediately report this to site manager.
• Performing minor repairs on crane electrical and mechanical.
• Performing any other duties as may be requested from time to time & might be reasonably expected from a Crane Operator.

The suitable candidate will meet the following minimum requirements:

• Namibian Citizen.
• Grade 12 with valid crane operator’s card.
• Minimum of 3 years applied experience as a crane operator (operators may be unutilized on lower class cranes as and when required).
Valid Code C1 driver’s license.
• Must have knowledge to perform minor repairs on crane and mechanical.
• Must have excellent numeric and verbal ability (English & Afrikaans).
• Must have good verbal, and written communication skills (English and Afrikaans).
• Must have excellent eyesight.
• Must have good problem-solving skills.
• Must be able to calmy diagnose and analyse situations.
• Must be conscientious and be able to adhere to principles and values (high integrity).
• Must adapt to changing circumstances & have high attention to detail.
• Must be stress resilient and able to cope with a demanding work life (including long working hours).
• Must be able to achieve personal work goals and objectives.
• Must have sober habits.
• Must have basic computer skills.
• Must be able to work independently as well as in a team.
• Must have a valid code of conduct (Police Clearance) not older than 3 months.
