This position reports to the Depot Manager and is based in Oshakati.
Key responsibilities include:
• Supervise Loading and Off-loading- safe and efficient handling of all consignments with special
attention to fragile and high-value items.
• Daily Communication with Operations: Coordinate with the Operations Manager on truck
availability and schedules to meet timely delivery needs.
• Preload and Vehicle Checks: Conduct preload checks and inspections, including neatness of
trucks and report defects to Manager.
• Weight and Balance Compliance: Assess weight distribution to ensure load limits are met and
prevent load shifts.
• Document Handling: Verify all goods against freight lists, and delivery notes, manage
discrepancies/damages and ensure proper documentation.
• Administrative Reporting: Submit detailed loading reports and documents related to incidents or
accidents.
• Staff Management: Supervise, train and discipline staff in line with Company policies and
procedures
• Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all loading equipment is serviced, certified, and compliant.
• Compliance with Policies and Regulations: Enforce adherence to health, safety, quality and
operational policies and procedures.
The suitable applicant will possess:
• A valid Grade 12 certificate.
• 3 to 5 years minimum applied experience in a supervisory position, preferably in the transport
industry.
• Have a code C1 driver’s license and a valid forklift operator’s license will be an added
advantage.
• Police clearance certificate (not older than 3 months) – No criminal record.
• Proven computer skills.
• Ability to manage a medium sized team.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English and Afrikaans.
• Attention to detail with problem-solving skills.
• Must be able to cope with a demanding work life (including working long and odd hours).
• Namibian Citizenship
