SHIFT SUPERVISORS x 2 – WINDHOEK JET.X
The FP du Toit Transport Group is in existence since 1968 and diversified over time from a solely long-haul operation to one which includes Jet.X Couriers (an express road and air courier service), Pro Parcel (a part-load and distribution operation), as well as Wesbank Transport (cross border and national transport). This is In line with our strategy to offer our clients a complete range of services to satisfy all their logistical requirements.
This position reports to the Depot Manager and is based in Windhoek at Brakwater.
Key responsibilities include:
• Supervise Loading and Off-loading- safe and efficient handling of all consignments with special attention
to fragile and high-value items.
• Daily Communication with Operations: Coordinate with the Operations Manager on truck availability and
schedules to meet timely delivery needs.
• Preload and Vehicle Checks: Conduct preload checks and inspections, including neatness of trucks and
report defects to Manager.
• Weight and Balance Compliance: Assess weight distribution to ensure load limits are met and prevent load
shifts.
• Document Handling: Verify all goods against freight lists, and delivery notes, manage
discrepancies/damages and ensure proper documentation.
• Administrative Reporting: Submit detailed loading reports and documents related to incidents or
accidents.
• Staff Management: Supervise, train and discipline staff in line with Company policies and procedures
• Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all loading equipment is serviced, certified, and compliant.
• Compliance with Policies and Regulations: Enforce adherence to health, safety, quality and operational
policies and procedures.
The suitable applicant will possess:
• A valid Grade 12 certificate.
• 3 to 5 years minimum applied experience in a supervisory position, preferably in the transport industry.
• Have a code C1 driver’s license and a valid forklift operator’s license will be an added advantage.
• Police clearance certificate (not older than 3 months) – No criminal record.
• Proven computer skills with SAP experience.
• Ability to manage a medium sized team.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English and Afrikaans.
• Attention to detail with problem-solving skills.
• Must be able to cope with a demanding work life.
• Prepared to work weekends and shifts (rotate day & night shifts).
• Namibian Citizenship
