The position reports to the Depot Manager and is based in Windhoek at Brakwater.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Key responsibilities include:
• Responsible for the inspection of goods to be transported/delivered to ensure that they are
accounted for and intact (no damage). Supervise the loading of such goods onto vehicles for
delivery.
• Ensuring that load quality, timelines, and work efficiency goals are met.
• Perform pre-trip briefings, post trip debriefing and capturing of information in an effective
and efficient manner.
• Reporting all accidents and injuries on time.
• Plan, direct, control, and monitor the depot’s budget(s).
• Liaising and negotiating with suppliers, manufacturers, retailers and consumers and perform
regular customer visits.
• Will be involved in the hiring process and be responsible for the supervision, coaching,
training and discipline of warehouse`s workforce.
• Control costs and expenses, ensuring staff are productive, accurate and stick to deadlines.
• Keep metrics and data up to date to assess daily performance and implement improvements where
needed.
• Comply with all laws, regulations and ensure ISO requirements are met.
• Daily, weekly and monthly reporting of depot’s achievements, failures and challenges.
• Daily management of fleet, including management of trip sheets and manifests to optimize load
planning
• Any other duties in line with the responsibilities of a Fleet Manager
The suitable applicant will have:
• A valid grade 12 (with at least 26 points) with a Degree in Transport/Logistics Management.
• 10 years’ experience in the transport/logistics sector of which 5 must be at managerial level.
• Basic computer skills, knowledge of Parcel Perfect will be a distinct advantage
• Attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure.
• A friendly disposition, be customer oriented and have exceptional communication skills.
• Willingness to work over weekends/after hours.
• The ability to take initiative, to identify and to solve problems that may arise
• High regard for honesty and integrity.
• Police clearance certificate (not older than 3 months) – No criminal record.
• A valid Driver’s license.
• Namibian Citizenship.
